...it's Saturday Night!
Wooo! So far we've had 3 amazing shows and I'm sure that tonight's last one will be awesome as well. Both casts have been fantastic and tech has been working great as well!
I've been sooooooo busy this week, as you can tell from the week-long period since my last post. I apologize.
Right, so last sunday I took my first solo trip off-campus. It was exciting. I had to go to Squirrel Hill for Radio Shack and Geagle. I was waiting at the bus stop at Morewood and Forbes for about 10 minutes until I got fed up and started walking up Forbes. I must say, Damn, gaining gravitational potential is tiring! I was sure that any one of the many buses that I could have taken was going to pass me midway between bus stations, but I was almost 2/3 of the way there by the time the bus passed me, even though it was at least a 15-20 minute walk.
So I finally got there, after passing the oddest collection of gorgeous stone houses and little tiny brick houses. The issue became that I didn't know where Radio Shack was. I started out heading towards Geagle, cause I had to go there anyway for shampoo, clothes detergent and some kind of snacky food. I went like, 4 blocks past Geagle without seeing Radio Shack. Eventually I just went into Geagle and decided to go back to the bus-stop corner. I looked down Forbes and there it was, like 4 stores down. I got 150ft of 20-gauge speaker wire for $20 and $30 was spent on a XLR (microphone) to RCA (plain ol' left and right stereo cables) conversion 'system.' This system consisted of two cables and two solid linkages. We ended up only using one of the linkages and one of the cables. Oh well. We eventually had this big problem of the backstage mic being wayyy too quiet and there wasn't enough oophm in the stereo to bring it to acceptable levels. For whatever reason, the 'line-in' port on my comp causes terrible lag and using a USB mic/headphone adapter caused rediculous delay, like a whole sentence of it. Eventually, Rom, like my new favorite person, realized that his electric guitar distortion pedal has 1/4" input and out put and amplifies sound, so we turned down the distortion all the way and the volume up a lot and then we had an audible mic. Yay!
So...anyway. There's a crapload of other stuff I could/should write about, but I'm tired. I just wanna go sit in the audience and drink my coffee for a bit.
