Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Actually, it wasn't that bad, I just felt like making the reference back to my childhood.
Right, so I had to get up for my 8:30 physics recitation. I like physics, but I dislike getting up that early. I made it out of bed in time, barely, but when I got there I found out that we were doing the chapter 18 experiments and I had left my lab kit back at 'schlag. I ran home and got it and played with wires, magnets and using short-circuited NiChrome wire to carve styrofoam. Fun times.
Then I was off to the wonderful world of calc recitation, and wonderful it was. We went over, unenthusiastically, as usual, second-order homogeneous differential equations and then got our exams back. That ended up putting a damper on my entire day. While I technically passed, I would not consider it a 'success' and 15 of the points I lost was for me forgetting 1/2 of the rules of logs, leaving the other half like a rusty nail poking up through a basement stair tread, just waiting for me to step on it and ruin my day. It will brighten me up a bit if the class average is near or below me, as it might very well be. Brandon was very clear that she doesn't intend her tests to be 'easy.'
At least I was 'done' after that. I got breakfast then headed back to 'schlag and procrastinated for way too long. I started out by avoiding calc and physics work by reading Econ. Eventually I wasted time online (I was reading news stuff, at least) and then I got angry that my roomie was all done with his stuff, and was facing the choice between GTA3: San Andreas, Tony Hawk: Underground and X-Men Legengs on the PS2, and I finally cracked open my calc text and got to work. Unfortunately, I only got the first one of set from chapter 9, section 3. I spent a loong time trying to get the last couple, but I just couldn't. I did manage to get all but the last one from ch 17, sec 1, so I felt mildly accomplished, at least. I need to look over that before I go to office hours tomorrow and try to get differential equations all sorted out.
Once I decided that I wasn't going to get much more calc done I headed out for dinner at the Underground and then headed over to the Baker cluster to do my 21126 HW (I don't have a copy of Maple on my lappy yet) and also to check out a solidworks model for SAE stuff (again, I don't currently have a copy of SW on my comp.) From there, it was time for Calc SI. I go there, but it seems to me that the examples are so much simpler (at least with this stuff) that I'm not sure how much it helped. I think it did help for trig integrals (like when you have the integral of sec^9*tan^3 and so on) but I get the general concept of differential equations, I think I just struggle with the algebra involved. I'll be stopping in to Prof Brandon's office hours tomorrow, hopefully things'll make more sense
Speaking of tomorrow, it's going to be a crazy day! Class from 9:30-12:30, Brandon's office hours are 12:00-1:30, career center walk-ins (I need a resume!) are from 2-4, I got MechE 2:30-3:20, info session about choosing MechE from 4:30-5:30ish and then M&I course center from 6:30-8:30 during which time I'll "turn in" this solenoid magnetic field program I've just finished and work on my HW that's due friday.
Why couldn't today have been like yesterday? Except without the squandering of my precious time with poorly translated space RPG/RTS games.
In other news, I miss people. Like, seeing friends outside of classes. Yea, I ate dinner with some of the Heros the other day, and I hung out at Maggie Mo this past thurs, but those are just isolated incidents. I don't mind being busy if I at least come into contact with my friends somewhat. Hopefully next week will be taken down a notch, stress and busy-ness-wise. I wouldn't count on it, though.
So I talked to Prof Heard (he was my lab prof last semester and also heads the MSE co-op program, meaning he knows all about people who'll emplot MSE undergrads from CMU) and he's helping me find a summer job/internship that isn't Home Depot. The best option, so far, it seems, is a Stainless Steel foundry/casting place that's south of Boston. Not only is it convenient to home (well, moreso that Framingham or Tewksbury) but I'm working on Stainless Steel right now with Prof Garrison! But I have to get their contact info, write a resume and send it out to a bunch of places first. And soon.
Well, I ought to go take a shower now.

PS Sorry for the non-regular updates, I'm getting back into the habit of blogging after having put it down for a whole week.
