Foam and Burlap!

...were the first two construction materials Drew and I suggested for use in our mousetrap car. The burlap was quickly rejected, but the foam remains a very real possibility. We shall have to see how our prototyping/early design phase goes.

So what'd I do today....
Rolled out of bed no more than 40ish minutes before physics recitation started at 8:30. It appears I am already back to my old pattens of sleep/awakening. Physics went alright, had my two python programs checked off and did some whiteboard problems.
Calc rec went alright. It was short. The class is incredibly unenthusiastic. I feel like this stems at least partially from the lethargic, rather disinterested demeanor of our TA. He deosn't seem like a morning person at all.
After calc rec I grabbed coffee and a scone at Andy's after checking my mail and headed back to 'schlag. I hung around doing nothing of note until 12:10ish when I headed out for my Intro to Math Software class. The cluster it's in is sooo hard to find. When you go back into that corner of the Hunt library basement you think you're going to set off a fire alarm or something opening the wrong door, but eventually you come upon the 'NEAR' cluster which has a door on the far side that leads to the 'FAR' cluster, where this class is. It smelt of CSW but since the people are there volunarily, hopefully there will be more of the 'giving a care' vibe than was present in CSW.
Following that I went to Wean and picked up my time card so I can sign myself in-out tomorrow (later today, that is) for my first work hours tomorrow. I made a pocket for it on the indside cover of my lab notebook, along with a sleeve for the new ruler Prof Garrison gave me.
I grabbed lunch at Asiana and ate outside of Wean on a glorious spring-like day in the middle of January. It was amazing here today! In the mid-upper 50's I believe, a nice breeze and overcast just enough so the sun never gets in your eyes. Gorgeous. I bet I have better weather here in Pittsburgh than the 'rent's and bothers are having down in the 'happiest place on earth', suckers.

~2:30 I headed over to my MechE recitation. It lasted all of about 10 minutes. There was some video the TA was supposed to show us, but he didn't want to and 'conveniently' the movie/projector was being uncooperative.

So, tomorrow (today) I'm going to the Opera! Thomas, a voice major on my hall, told me about this world-premiere opera ("The Death of Columbus") that's being put on (entirely?) by some CMU students at Carnegie Music Hall tomorrow (Friday, jan 14) night. Best of all, it's free with your CMU ID. Conveniently, some friends have to be out of their apartment tomorrow evening (tonight, that is) and so they'll be joining me. Too bad the person I'd really have liked to join me had prior obligations. Oh well, some other time.

I spent wayyy too long playing WoW today. I played for like 2 hours and I didn't realize it at all. The main reason I stopped was because the heros were heading out to the U and I figured food would be a good idea at some point. Much hilarity ensued. I ended up back at 'schlag, spent more time in WoW and checked out the latest version of the Star Wars mod for Starshatter, before taking a shower and blogging. So, here I am; I have finished regaling you all with my exciting tales, and now I will sleep, for tomorrow I have class, and who knows what else the future may hold...
