Has quite some potential, doesn't it? Actually there was a business major with us, but adding a fourth person just seems to ruin the flow of the line.
Wow, OK that was officially the longest time I've left a blog post unfished partway through. I just got back from the O....mmm....grease.
So, anyway, the Opera was enjoyable. I think I prefer either a pure orchestra concert or a theatrical musical; but it was certainly an interesting and fun experience. For a world premiere opera, a sequel to an apparently famous opera, Christopher Columbus, by an apparently famous composer, Leonardo Balada, it was remarkably devoid of audience. There were at least a couple hundred people, but it Carnegie Music Hall was certainly nowhere near even 1/2 full. Oh well, it's the loss of anyone who didn't show up. And to think we were concerned about not being able to get tickets 30 min before showtime. The hall on a whole is a very impressive place. In the link several lines above there is a picture of the theatre itself as well as the 'grand foyer' which, indeed, is quite grand.
What else did I do today? Well, I had my regular set of classes, excepting Econ, there were no recitations today. I didn't initially realize this and I went to the regular classroom (not where I'd have recitation anyway) and was confused when I found noone from my 200+ person lecture there. I realized my error and ended up eating lunch at Tepper with Drew and a few 'schlag guys. I got back and played WoW for a bit before heading out to MechE. It was not a lecture today, but a bunch of people doing presentations on their research projects within MechE. Some of them were pretty cool. I was amazed at how theoretical robotics could be. There were a couple guys doing incredibly complex math in order to map a path through a known area.
After MechE I headed over to Wean to start my job. However, Prof Garrison wasn't in and neither me nor his secretary could find him (of course he doesn't have a cell phone). Eventually I left a message on his voice mail and he called back and I need to e-mail him a list of when I'm free next week.
I then eventually ended up at the SAE meeting. So far I'm the only person who's officially signed up as far as SAE is concerned, so I'm the only one who'll be going to Detroit, as of now. The meeting went on far longer than I expected. Initially I planned on staying just long enough to turn in my membership info, but then I stayed and stayed way longer than I wanted to. I left and got back to 'Schlag about 6:30. However, timing worked out well, we got to Carnegie Music Hall just at 7:30, which was just about the right amount of lead time.
Well, that was a blog post remarkably devoid of links. I hope I didn't disappoint anyone. I guess not much struck me as particularly hyper-linkable. Well, tomorrow looks to be an SnS Dungeon Day (C) during the afternoon with a showing of Sky Captain in McConomy.
