Yesterday I had my two afternoon classes canceled (126 and MechE rec) so I had tons of free time. I even managed to spend an hour and a half helping out in the SAE garage. I cut out templates that'll be used to cut out the aluminum floor for the car. Way cool Sarah (a fellow MHSDG vet; the wife of Trotsky in "All in the Timing/The many deaths of Trotsky" back during my sophomore year) was eating dinner at the U same time as I was just before course center, and that made dinner that much more entertaining. I also got all my physics HW done in course center, as opposed to in course center + 2 hrs afterwards, so I was at a loss for stuff to do. So I joined the Heros for dinner at Eat'n'Park. Actually, I had already had dinner, so I just had a milkshake and then a cookie (mmm...swashbuckly), as you can see in the pictures.
Right, so after that, we got back and then we Unrealed on the scherver for a while before I figured I should head off to bed, cuz, ya, know I had class in the morning.
My various classes went fine, except when I forgot again that Econ rec is on friday, and it's not in the regular lecture room. Oh well, so I got there like, 2 min late, no biggie. Oh, and I officially don't know what the letter of the section I'm in, is. I thought it was 'j', but it clearly isn't. It's like E or something. I think I was 'J' in calc last semester or something. That just meant I put my test in the wrong pile and I didn't get it back today. Oh well, I know I got a 92 on it anyway. Yay for blackboard.
Anyway, I Skibo'ed for lunch and read some of a book the prof I'm working for lent me so I'd have some background in Ti before working on it this summer. So, anyway as I was heading back to 'schlag I saw two of my friends sitting out in the courtyard and I stopped by to talk. I see one of them, Ally, every day in calc/calc rec but I barely ever see Miriam ever, and that's a shame because she as well is a crazy MHSDG alum (she was
Choset gave us a lecture on the origins of April Fool's day and then we talked about Stress/Strain and whatnot. All that stuff that I already learned correctly in MSE last semester. I swear, Choset used the word 'modulus' like 4 times when he shouldn't of/there was no need. My friend Nick and I (he took MSE also last semester) corrected him on several occasions.
I really like him less and less every class. I don't know if it's just the syllabus or if it's him, but the class seems highly redundant to every other science course I've ever taken. Maybe that means I've had a great science education, but I'm going to assume otherwise. Whatever, it'll be done in a few more weeks. Just have to finish that mousetrap car...curses.
Right...so after MechE I met with Grubb and Drew in the dungeon, after watching Grubb, Beej, Yin and Gerrit do some improving in front of Doherty. We ended up talking about the set stuff until 4:45ish when I had to head over to Scaife for the weekly SAE meeting.
Basically, we have 3-4 weeks of work to get done in a week and a half. Um, uhoh. I feel bad because I can't do any of the CNC or other machining that is going to be so time-consuming. What are my relavent skills? Sweeping? I don't know. I really feel helpless sometimes, and it sucks. But then I go to the dungeon and I feel much more in my element and generally know what I'm doing, or at least how to do what someone tells me I should be doing.
I was going to eat O outside, trying to eek the last little bit of nice out of the day, but it started raining as I sat down outside, so I headed over to the dungeon and ate my burger down there.
Drew and I did some stuff on the MechE car, all of it repair, actually. The swingarm broke while trying to screw on a counterweight/trigger mechanism, but the arm split down the middle. So we made another, and attached it. That was about it.
Build was very productive. We actually had like, three whole actors show up! A couple non-actors showed up to help paint stuff, because the paint charge/mistress had a paint out in the hall outside of the dungeon during the build. I must say, it was fun and productive; except when I cut 3.5" off two pieces of wood twice (IE I took 7" of each instead of 3.5" each). That was bad. I guess sometimes it takes me 15-20 min to get into the 'carpentry' groove.
So I got back and decided to sit around and watch a movie. SHould I have done laundry while sitting here? Yea. But I didn't.
I was going to watch Ocean's Twelve, but it was an incredibly bad bootleg version, so I watched Mystery Men, instead. I've seen it before, but, boy is it a great movie. Incredibly underrated/utterly forgotten. I recommend it to anyone, especially fans of superhero movies, or underdogs. Or both. I also managed to fix Christine's USB ports by making random suggestions. Yay for being more effective than tech support would ever be. And cheaper.
Now I sit and blog, awaiting the time, swiftly growing closer, in which I will get up, change and go off to bed, for I have board preview tomorrow.
[EDIT (12:34 4/2/05)]: Sorry, Miriam, it'll never happen again.

Yeah, we definitely need to work on that whole seeing each other more thing. (and, for the record, I was AD for UncertainTea, I swore I would NEVER do costumes for Festival. hehe).
