...Was a good friend of mine
I never understood a single word he said
But I helped him a-drink his wine
And he always had some mighty fine wine
Singin'...
Joy to the world
All the boys and girls now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me!
Today has been/is just an awesome day! I was walking to calc this morning and it just felt great. The weather was amazing! I just felt good to be alive, even with HW, meche project, a meche test and building the mythical land of Oz looming overheard.
Calc was fine. Physics was awesome! We went over some more electromagnetism type stuff. Basically, it resulted in shooting metal rings cooled in liquid Nitrogen across the room. They looked so cool, pun intended, trailing nitrogen vapor as they flew through the air. So cool! We also went over eddie-currents (a result of Faraday's Law), which I already knew all about because my way-cool physicist uncle taught me about them whilst I was in Germany.
In econ we were rebels (several of the Heros and I) as we sat on the left side of the room, instead of the right. This was all grace's fault as she had just had calc in there the period before and refused to move. Hector succumbed to her influence sat there, and then the whole thing just snowballed, throwing off the entire side of the room, much like Jgrafton sitting in Sam's seat in physics the period before and one floor down.
For lunch I grabbed Taste of India and sat outside the UC. I ended up talking with my friend Ed, which was really cool. I don't see him that often since MSE is over.
I went back and hung out at 'schlag for the remainder of my 2 hr lunch break. I did manage to discover some pretty hilarious SW fan films during this period. To be fair I didn't 'discover' so much as I read /. and they linked over to them. There's a solid 30-40 minutes of video over there, if you're bored or procrastinating.
Anyway, after that it was on to my MechE exam. Rediculously easy! Wow, so easy. Still a bit stressful though, esp when I was getting 500+ m^2 for a lifting area of a 950 kg plane (that's like, a cessna or something; note the 16m^2 wing area). Then I realized I forgot to square the velocity in the lift equation. That fixed it all nice-like.
I made the executive decision to not work on the meche car immediately after the test. That was a good call. I got to relax outside and watch the first hour or so of the CMU vs PITT tennis match. We ended up losing, but my friend won both her matches. W00t for M&I people!
At around 4:30 it was time for an info session about registering for MechE classes; moreso it was about the curriculum in general. While it did make me realize that some courses I perhaps would have trouble fitting in, and that I'm going to be quite busy over the next 3 or so years, I am feeling much better about fitting the MSE minor into my schedule. After that Drew went to get food and I went back to 'schlag for half an hour or so until it was time to go and work on the MechE car. We didn't get much done, but we did end up mounting one end's bearings and that went well. I had to leave and hit up Skibo for dinner quickly before the build started.
Build went excellently, I think. We got the railings built all nice and got all the casters and blocks attached to the 12' 2x4's that will tie the two big wall segments together. We even got a whole actor to stop by.
After the build Rob, Theresa and I hit up the U for snacks.
Then I got back to 'schlag and discovered that my math software class is canceled for tomorrow (and therefore the HW is due not tomorrow, but the 7th (next thurs) so I don't need to worry about it yet! Yay!).
Oh, other big news: I actually, officially have a job! I finally decided it was time to stop waiting for Bose to say 'no' so I called/e-mailed Dynamet and let them know that I would take their job offer for this summer! Yay. Now I need to figure out exactly what days I want to start/finish and let them know. Know what the best part is? I beat out some kids from MIT who would've tried for the internship if I hadn't taken it! Ha! I win.
Here ends the purely happy and upbeat portion of the post.
So, anyway, spring's in the air and whatnot. I noticed that, while watching the tennis match, I was the only person sitting there on the grass alone. Granted, eventually Drew came along, but he's not quite the same.
I have noticed that, while there are several girls I'm interested in, there isn't a single one that's always head and shoulders above the others in my mind (come to think of it, I guess they are all about the same height...). I'm just confused, or perhaps indecisive. I don't know. What I do know is that I hate the uncertainty of it all. I have suspicions of other people's feelings, but my intuition in that sense is pretty bad. Really bad, in fact. And the fact that I've only had unsuccessful experiences with such things makes me more timid than I otherwise would be. Things would be much easier if someone else made some unambigious remark so I'd know, one way or the other. Preferably 'way' and not 'other.' Oh well, I guess I haven't had much time for a girlfriend recently, anyway.
