There's another kind?

OK, so this evening on my way to my nightly shower I noticed something. Now, normally this would be perfectly reasonable, but there's this one caveat: I live in an all-male, all-freshman dorm...uh..there's a ladies' shower? Honestly, they don't, or at least didn't when 'schlag was built in the '60s, enough credit to assume that we're all going to have copious quantities of lady-friends spending the night and needing a shower in the morning. Therefore, 'schlag is unequiped with a ladie's anything, except for the bathroom outside the 'schlounge.
Now, my tuition is going up something like 3.5% for next year. That's like a $1000 increase. I bet if they avoided putting up relatively worthless sings (especially since the other bathroom on the hall equipped with showers didn't get a sign, why label only some of the showers?) they could save at least a few hundread dollars per student. Seriously.

In other news, the M&I test went well today, I think. Everyone else I talked to pretty much agreed, so hopefully good things will come of it. Unfortunately, I have calc and econ exams coming up this friday, and I am dreading them both. I need to do well on both of them, but I thought I did well on the last ones, and I most certainly did not. I feel pretty good about lotsa this calc stuff...I just gotta review DiffEqs, which we haven't done since before spring break. Econ however...I just don't quite get what I'm doing wrong. I understand, I think, what he's talking about in class, and I get stuff in recitation, but somehow that doesn't seem to translate to getting any decent amount of stuff on HW/Tests. Why?? Another problem is that I don't seem to have the time to read through the 5(!) chapters of Econ that's covered on this test. Granted, I have no idea what good that'd do me. The lectures seem to have little relevence to it, but I think I need to make the time to do it anyway. Arg. And it was so easy in HS? And I understood everything? Same goes for calc. Grr. At least I don't have to take any more Econ classes...I think I might try German as my humanities course for next semester...but I'm sorta stuck with Calc for 3 more semesters.
In other news, we managed to not really cover anything novel in MechE class...we talked about gear ratios. I learned about those from Gizmos and Gadgets, while throwing bananas at robo-chimps. I saw no robo-chimps in lecture today; I think I want a refund.
I like meche, heck, I'm majoring in it, but I wish the lectures were less things we all learned in elementary school and more like...new things. .
For crying out loud, 15% of our last test were UNIT CONVERSIONS. Yes, the stuff I've been doing in Physics, Chem, AP physics, AP chem. By M&I last semester Schumacher was kindly enough to assume we all could, given the volition, convert from slugs to kg or convert PSI to kPa. Arg. Cool subject but I just want to move on, please. Yet the class average on that last test was 67.11! How? I guess Intro to MechE is supposed to weed the true MechE from the posers..but wow. I'm saddened that finding the momentum of a 2.1lb mousetrap car moving at 8.4ft/s in SI units would weed out anyone.
Whatever. I should go to bed soon.
