"I feel that I would be a great asset to your company..."

"Well, if you take a look at my resume, you'll see that I have quite a lot of experience in many different related fields."

Yea, so I applied for a summer job at like, 6 places today:
Maxtor
Whiting-Turner
Raytheon
Bose
Wollaston Alloys
Dynamet Technology
Hopefully one of 'em will get back to me about either a job or at least an interview over spring break (next week, woot!!). I also put up my resume and updated my info on TartanTrak (the CMU portion of MonsterTrak) and perhaps that'll yield something, though probably not this summer, at least. I'm honestly not too hopeful about Bose and Raytheon, they're big companies and I'm sorta late in getting to submitting my resume, and I'm a freshman. However, I am optimistic about Wollaston Alloys and Dynamet Tech. They're both specialty materials research places, small and likely get few (if any) applications for summer jobs. Now, this is a two-edged sword: it means they likely don't have an established internship program like Bose does, and I might very well get stuck being copy-bitch of coffee-boy, either of which would suck. I'd just as soon work at Home Depot, unless the pay was really good.
I was also productive today in other fields:
I finished up my Physics HW, I made my MechE 4-bar mechanism (it's made from plywood and is hinged with re-bent staples. It's pretty hot), and I finished a prelim design for the throttle-cable support for the SAE car. It's the thing that holds the end of the throttle cable near the gas pedal and actually has to be pretty strong while not getting in the way of the driver's foot. The latter is virtually impossible because of how tight the driver's envelope is this year. It meant weight savings galore in the chassis but it's a really tight fit driver and packaging-wise.
I would think of more stuff to type, but it's already 1:12, I'm tired and I need to brush my teeth and go off to bed.
