"Everything is fine, nothing is broken..."

Riiight. So the world seems to have crashed Homestarrunner. See, they said they were going to update during the Halftime show. Silly them, now the entire world checked in during precisely the same 15 minute window.

So, the Pats won! W00t! Not a terrible surprise (I'd been warning people for a week that this would happen). The commercials were only alright this year. There were a couple good ones. The best being, I think, the ones for the mortgage company, Ameriquest, who advised against 'judging too quickly' as well as the FedEx commercial ("We've discovered 10 things needed for a great commerical.....6. Groin Kick")

I must say in their attempt to prevent another 'child-scarring scandal' whoever produced the halftime show actually put together one that I enjoyed thoroughly! I mean, who doesn't want to listen to a 15 minute Sir Paul McCartney concert? Especially when a piano just sorta appears out of the floor in time for "Live and Let Die" and "Hey Jude." I think this is the way to go: get one good act rather than trying to string together a bunch of generally bad ones. I mean, Janet Jackson and Justin? There were other people too last year, as I recall. And Aerosmith and Britney Spears?? I mean, I'm certainly not going to object to Aerosmith, but the two together? I think they just decided to throw a bunch of money around and hope that some bizzare conglomeration of 'superstars' would draw a big audience.

It was amusing watching the game with other 'schlaggers in the schlounge. We went through about 15 20" pizzas (that's 32 ft^2 for anyone who's counting) and ~30lb of wings and a crapload of chips and dip. Aside from that, most of the people in the room were rooting for the ill-fated Eagles. However, there was this raffle/pot/betting thingy set up this year where you filled your name into two grid squares and then at kickoff the rows and columns were assigned single digit numbers and then if your grid co-ordinates matched the ones digits of the score a the end of a quarter or the final score then you won a gift certificate to the Waterfront. As the end of quarters neared, people began to devise rediculous means for the score to swing in their favor. Anyway...Go Pats!

Afterwards we watched the new Simpsons as well as the Premier of "American Dad." The general concensus was that the show prolly won't last out more than a season. There were some amusing bits, among my favorites was the fish in the vein of Stewey; he was a east german olympic skier whose mind was swapped with a goldfish to prevent east germany from winning the an olympic medal in the 1980's. But yea, it won't laugh. The upshot of watching "American Dad" was the L&O-style ad for the upcoming Family Guy season. 'Twas excellent.

Well, time for sleep.

After thoroughly enjoying the halftime show, I got an email from my Orientation Counselor, promoting the "Don't you want to be an Orientation Counselor next year?" meeting tomorrow, and in it she gave us one of those "Hope everyone had a fun superbowl (how bad did the halftime show suck!?!) and is enjoying 2nd semester!" bits. I almost cried. I mean, I'm SICK and I was up and singing along to the halftime show...all I needed was a lighter...
