What if God was one of us?

So, anyway, that question begun my first day of my second semester here at CMU. It came up on the playlist over at Shatz. It started up and I was trying to identify it. I don't believe I'd ever heard the whole thing of the real song. I've heard several parodies in their entireties, but never the original.

So my academic day started with Calc. 'Twas nice, before class I met up with Ally and some other people I knew and sat with them in class. Calc this semester is in Giant Eagle (Geagle) Auditorium. It's newer than it ought to be. Power and ethernet ports at every seat, pretty nice. My calc prof has a, her words, 'mongelized english accent' that ought to make the class a tad more interesting.

From there it was off to Physics with Helmut. It should be a fantasitc class. I will need to start a collection of his quotes somewhere...I'll start here:
"I live over there in Wean Hall"
"Mount Everest is a cube"
"This is standard party conversation" Talking about the 'density' of aforementioned mountain.
There were several people new to the M&I experience. We stared at them before class started. Greg (not an M&I n00b) also tried to 'click' in his answers to some of Vogel's questions, but to no avail. Little clicker guy, you will be sorely missed.

From there it was off to a packed Econ class, right upstairs of physics. I'm thinking there were more people in that hall than graduated with me from SHS. I bet (hope) a lot of people drop it/stop coming. The prof seems pretty cool; very laid back and interested in keeping everything interesting. He did a great impression of a student from UCo, where he used to teach.

I headed back to DH 1212 at 1:30 for my MechE class, and got there and was very confused. I knew several of the people there were humanities-types and two guys were talking about never having taken a physics class before. I thought it was stupid but their determination was admirable, I guess. Turns out it was physics for science students 1 or something. My MechE lecture is at 2:30. The prof seems alright. He's head of the undergrad robotics program, not really my area of interest, but we'll see how he runs the class. That was another mobbed class. composed mostly of people who took ECE or MSE last semester. There were a half dozen people there who're on the waitlist, and I bet a few people will drop out/not come anymore. That happened to a lot of people last semester in MSE.

I have some good friends in several of my classes now; that's good. Well, I'm off to dinner soon, back on the meal plan, spending that lovable funny-money.

[EDIT:] Fixed typo noted by regular reader.
