So both projects took about the same amount of time and cost the same amount (in modern dollars, $20 billion). The Manhattan Project employed ~100,000 people. Microsoft supposedly employed ~10,000 for Vista & Office 2007.

At least M$ pay's its employees better, even if they seem to get a tad less accomplished. Either that, or as my roommate suggested, M$ is doing something else with their money...
