A Tire Story

So over the last coupla weeks I've had far too much excitement in my life with regards to tires. While on vacation in Maine my dad hit a rock on the side of the road at night, resulting in:

So we had to go find a Michelin Cross Terrain in rural Maine. Note the gauging in the alloy rims.

Months ago I had posted to the CMU SAE forums asking for advice regarding new tires. Activity on my part stalled out, mostly because it's hard to prod my parents to do anything. Then, two days ago I hit a pipe or something sticking out of the ground (might have also been a new granite curb) and popped my tire. I didn't realize that happened, (that tires pop like a balloon) but I heard a pop and then a whoosh as my right-rear tire deflated. That convinced my Dad to shell out for new tires (he didn't like the old Goodyear POS's (if you follow that link, make note of the first review of the tire) Toyota put on the car, either).

We managed to find what seemed to be the only set of four 195/65 R15 Michelin Pilot Exalto All-seasons in the state of MA . They're freakin' sweet.

That is all.
