...I think.
I have a $100 sitting on a Circuit City gift card and I'd sell my old camera on eBay (I'll prolly get >=$100) for it which brings the net cost to me down to about $150, though I'd prolly want to get a second Lion battery for it too ($25).
The fact of the matter is I don't care that much for my current camera. My parents chose it for me and I appreciate very much that they got me a digital camera, but it's just too 'user-friendly' for me. Yea, it points and shoots alright and the pictures themselves are pretty good, but it's utterly lacking (by design) any manual feature whatsoever. I can't set ISO or f-stop or anything at all. I can choose one of...7 I think pre-determined modes but that's about it, and I can force the flash off and end up with a really blurry picture, but that's about it.
Sure I have my analog SLR camera at home with all it's user-adjustable glory, but that's also huge and requires photo processing. I'm just looking for something in-between something solely point-and-shoot and full-blown analog photography (my SLR).
The 800 is almost exactly the same dimensions as my current one.
The only thing I'm concerned about is the lack of viewfinder, IE you can only take pictures using the (nice, large) LCD. This is hypothetically bad in bright sunlight as well as being not-great for the battery. Speaking of which, it appears it only runs on LI12B batteries. This is all well and good, but it means I could never just swap in a couple AA in case I run out of juice. I'd just have to buy a 2nd battery and keep it charged.
Oh well, something to think about over break, I guess; let me know if you have any opinions, one way or the other.
I'll be leaving PIT tomorrow morning on a ~10:20ish flight so I'll be leaving on the 28X no later than 8:30, I hope.
If I don't see you before then, travel safely and have a great break!
